FINDING THE PERFECT FIT

The most critical component of any custom build is knowing it’s desired application.

This is where understanding the fishery plays a vital role. Here are some questions that help determine the perfect fit:

  • What do I need the rod to do?
  • Where will I be fishing?
  • What species am I targeting, and their size?
  • What bait will I be using?
  • Will the bait be live, if so, what size?
  • Do I need a rod that cast lures also, only lures, or a combination of both?
  • Do the lures need to be worked fast, hard, up, down, side-to-side, or jigged?

Once you know the answers to these questions, we can start building the perfect rod for you. If you aren’t sure, contact our team and we will help you figure out what will work best for you.

Blanks

Knowing the power and action of the blank is one of the most crucial components of the rod.

Rod action is defined as where the rod bends under a certain load.

There are four classifications of rod action: extra fast, fast, moderate, and slow. Faster action rods flex near the tip. Moderate actions flex more towards the middle of the blank. Slower actions flex all the way down towards the reel seat.

Then there’s classifications of “power” for each rod. Power determines how much pressure it takes for it’s action to bend. There are five power classes: ultralight, light, medium, medium-heavy, and heavy.

Every Spartan Stix blank is made with the very best materials, and come in almost any color.

Grips

What’s more important than where and how you’ll be holding the rod?

What’s unique about Spartan Stix is our ability to contour the grips to desired length and shape. The options are limitless.

Whether it’s EVA foam, cork, or stabilized wood it’s 100% custom made to your preference.

wraps

This is where creativity and true artistry comes into play. With hundreds of custom patterns and colors to choose from, we can directly imprint your personality on the rod.

Every single wrap is truly unique. Hundreds of tightly wound Madeira threads create a distinct pattern on each rod.

Each thread is meticulously wrapped around the blank to offset taper, so there are no visible gaps.

It’s not hyperbole to say that you are guaranteed to have a one-of-a-kind rod.

Guides

At Spartan Stix, we only use the best guides in the business – made by Fuji

You can think of guides like the “brains” of your rod. In order to have accurate aim with extended distance, you need proper guide height as well as impeccable guide spacing. Here at Spartan Stix, every rod has it’s own specific guide layout, and guide train.

Hundreds of hours have been put into the research and development of each guide train to ensure maximum cast distance and reliability on the water.
